WHAT Is Born-Again?

The miracle of the new birth

Placeholder Picture

The miracle of the new birth, or becoming born again, is an absolute requirement to enter the kingdom of heaven-ref Jn 3:3. A baby is not born a Christian, but rather becomes a son of God through the new birth as illustrated in Jn 1:12, 13. Many claim they believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, but their fruits—attitudes, works of God, obedience to God’s Word, love for the brethren (as well as their enemies), plus their child likeness to correction from God’s Word—shows little, or no evidence, of receiving, or trusting Jesus. There is little, or no evidence of a changed life. Their lives do not reflect that they have repented. Their lives do not reflect Jesus. John 1:13 tells us that believing must be accompanied with being born of God—in other words born–again. Jesus is God-ref Jn 1:1,14. He is to be received as Lord and Savior; however, few people will allow Jesus (or His Word) to reign over them and direct them.

Some say they believe in Jesus, but they do not fully believe or trust the Bible and its accuracy. There are many who have tried to disprove the Bible. If they truly have an open mind, they find the Bible to be absolutely perfect. Check out this link of a person who believes himself to be the “Greatest Skeptic”. To reject God’s Word (the Bible) is to reject Jesus—who is the Word-ref Jn1:1. If you have little or no hunger to hear and study the Bible, how can you say you are going to heaven? Jesus' name means Savior. The Scripture explains it to mean, to save people from their sins–ref Mt 1:21.  How can you be saved if you do not believe in the foundation of Christianity? Scripture clearly states, Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved-Acts 4:12.

Before Jesus came, people were saved through faith (or trust) in the law—they were looking forward to the coming of the Messiah as symbolized through the feasts and sacrifices. Since Jesus has come through the fulfillment of the 1st three feast days—He's been crucified, risen from the dead, has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (the Bible)-ref 2 Tim 1:10—we can now be saved through faith (or trust) in his Word. And that faith comes from daily reading and meditating on the Word of God. It is written, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God-Rm 10:17.
